Questions & Answers

WHAT DO I DO IF MY HOME IS BEING LIVED IN BEFORE MOVER ARRIVES?

It is best to have most of your belongings out of home before mover arrives. We take no responsibility for personal items left in the home. You can stay in home up until day we arrive to pick it up, as long as you can be out very quickly so you do not delay prep and transportation.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED DOWNTIME?

Downtime is when we have home ready to transport and can not leave with it, or when we arrive and home takes a lot longer to get ready (e.g. large decks in the way, add ons, cut trees, above average height from ground, etc.).We usually add some hours to your quote for you for downtime. We do not charge downtime for things such as road travel, motels, travel restrictions, etc.

WHY WOULD YOU NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE WITH MY HOME?

There are several reasons, such as customer not having everything out that is needed or the home being in a position where it needs extra equipment to get out, or if the customer does not have proper authorization to leave with the home.

WHO WOULD NEED TO AUTHORIZE ME MOVING MY OWN HOME?

You have to have a local tax permit in most states and counties, and some states require mover to have papers proving that taxes have been paid in advance. It is your responsibility to have all tax issues resolved in advance. We would recommend two weeks in advance if possible.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CAN NOT SPOT MY HOME?

That can work several ways, if we know in advance we can have equipment ready to hook to home when we get there, it is you're responsibility to have a proper site for home once we arrive. We always take great care to try to get home where it goes, but sometimes it is impossible to get home in with a truck.

WHO PAYS FOR THE EXTRA EQUIPMENT IF NEEDED?

The customer is always liable for extra equipment needed to remove or spot the home. Picture this, you have a home on a huge hill that is going to take a dozer to get out and will be charged $80 per hour at 6 hours, why would the mover be liable because you put your home on a large hill, when the next customer down the road has a nice level lot that is easy to get to and easy to get out? You know as well as I do that nothing is free. Anyone not charging for the dozer is padding his bill for everyone. It does not matter if he needs it or not. I believe you should get what you pay for, and pay fairly for it.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I REFUSE TO PAY YOU?

This is a very good question. We are not bill collectors, and we do not like to hound people for money. Granted, eight out of ten beat me to the door to pay us and that is appreciated. It is the other two we have to deal with. Some people will beat you anyway they can. Trust me, we have been burned several times this year. Sometimes people are late to meet us and call to tell us what is happening. Most of the time we are patient and wait. Some people just ignore us and hope we will leave and get paid later. Trust me, if I drive 500 miles and you are not there to meet me, that is a major problem (unless we have worked it out before the move). Usually, we will pull your home to our nearest terminal or storage lot and hold it till payment is made plus costs to store and repull. All we ask is to be paid for what we do. I think that is fair enough.

DO YOU HAVE COVERAGE IF YOU WRECK MY HOME?

Yes, we do. We cover any accident we have on any road or public conveyance. We do not cover cracked windows, broken trim, loose shingles or siding, loose screens, etc.

We only cover accidents which occur on the road.
